Abstract: joint work with N. Ozawa. Tingley's problem asks whether every surjective isometry between unit spheres of two Banach spaces admits a real linear extension between the whole spaces. In this talk, I will report recent progress in this problem in the setting of operator algebras. In particular, I will explain how to show that Tingley's problem has an affirmative answer when one of the Banach spaces is a unital C^*-algebra.
