Starting this A semester, the guidelines for entering the Mathematics Building under STAGE YELLOW have changed

When entering Komaba I Campus, you must first apply for permission on the Tokyo Komaba I Campus Application and Reservation website and follow the guidelines indicated there.

When entering the Mathematics Building you are required to help prevent the further spread of the corona virus by adhering to the guidelines below. (See also https://corona.go.jp/prevention/pdf/en.newlifestyle.pdf)

1. For students or researchers entering the Mathematics Building

  • Undergraduate students are only permitted to enter the Mathematics Building for in-person classes (including seminars) or when using the Mathematics Library. Concerning the latter: after receiving permission and an appointment from the Library to use the Library facilities you must still obtain permission from the head of the Department of Mathematics to enter the Mathematics Building at your appointed date and time. (For details on how to obtain permission from the head of the Department of Mathematics, please contact the Library staff.) Please note that when entering the Mathematics Building for in-person classes you do not have to ask for permission from the head of the Department of Mathematics.
  • Researchers and Graduate School students can enter and use the Mathematics Building (on weekdays only) between 8:00AM and 8:00PM, for research or training purposes, if their supervisor or host deems this necessary. When entering the Mathematics Building for any other reason than that you were requested to do so by your host or supervisor, you will first need to obtain permission by submitting a letter to your host or supervisor, giving the specific date and time you wish to enter the building as well as explaining the reason to do so. Furthermore, when using the graduate students rooms or researcher offices you are required to follow the "Measures for preventing contamination in the graduate students rooms and researcher offices" listed below.
  • In order to facilitate contact tracing in case of contamination inside the Mathematics Building, it is forbidden to use any seminar or lecture room for which no explicit reservation was made in advance.

2. Measures for preventing contamination in the graduate students rooms and researcher offices

  • Do not exceed the maximum capacity of the room/office you are in. (This information is posted on the door of each room).
  • You are only allowed to use the rooms and offices on weekdays, and only between 8:00AM and 8:00PM.
  • You are not allowed to use your room or office for more than 4 hours per day.
  • Upon entering your room or office make sure to wash or disinfect your hands.
  • You are required to leave the door to your office/room open and to turn on the ventilation system when you are inside. If possible, also leave the windows open.
  • Inside the room or office you are required to keep a certain distance from the other occupants and to wear a face mask at all times. Also please refrain from eating in the student rooms or researcher offices. (Drinking water etc. is allowed.)
  • Please protect yourself and others by following proper sneezing and coughing etiquette.

3. Measures to be taken during lectures or seminars

  • You are required to wear a face mask at all times.
  • If possible, please keep a certain distance between yourself and the other participants (at the strictest minimum as in a checkerboard pattern, by leaving the seat in front, to the back, left and right of you open). Moreover, please refrain from moving about the lecture or seminar room when this is not absolutely necessary.
  • Please protect yourself and others by following proper sneezing and coughing etiquette.
  • Please refrain from talking if not absolutely necessary.

4. Measures to be taken before and after the lectures or seminars

  • Measure your body temperature on a daily basis and please keep a daily record of any high temperature or other ailments and symptoms you might experience.
  • If you are running a temperature (37.5C or more, or 1C more than your average body temperature), or if you are short of breath or feeling extremely tired, please refrain from coming to the university and be sure to inform the faculty member in charge of your class or seminar of your condition.
  • When attending lectures or seminars on campus, we strongly ask you to install the COCOA-COVID 19 Contact App and to have bluetooth running at all times on your smartphone. If this is impossible, we must ask you to keep a detailed log of your whereabouts on campus.
  • We recommend that you bring your own disinfectant alcohol gel/liquid or your own disinfectant wipes. These are also provided in front of the lecture room, however, and we ask you to disinfect not only your hands when you enter the room, but also to disinfect the area around your seat. Please discard any used wipes etc. in the designated waste bin.
  • Please practice social distancing at all times when you are in the Mathematics Building and especially when leaving or entering the lecture rooms or offices etc.
  • Always wear a face mask when there are other people with you in the same room or space.
  • When eating, make sure to keep a distance from other participants so as to avoid any contamination by droplets when you take of your face mask.
  • Please wash your hands carefully, before and after the lecture as well as upon returning home.
  • After the lecture or seminar, please leave the room quickly if you have no specific reason to stay.
  • When entering Komaba I Campus, please follow the guidelines and entry procedures detailed on the website http://www.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp/eng_site/ of the College of Arts and Sciences.
